Dr. Crowe and Ms. Butts-Dion have over 20 years of experience coaching and teaching QI and have served as Improvement Advisors for the IHI and the National Initiative for Children's' Healthcare Improvement.

Four local health department (LHD) teams (a total of 20 staff) agreed to participate in the AHEC QI 101 course. These "pilot-test" teams will learn to apply QI methodology in their local setting, but will also provide feedback on how NC CPHQ can improve the QI 101 course so that it is more applicable to public health professionals.

Each team identified a process within their LHD to improve and attended the first workshop session on June 23rd-24th to learn about specific QI methods and tools. Over the next 4 months, teams will receive coaching from QI 101 faculty on using the QI methods to successfully improve their chosen process. The LHD teams will attend the final workshop session on November 3rd-4th.
